Can I Start Again Please is about disclosure, recovery and reconciliation. It is about what can or cannot be overcome or changed. It is about what we wished hadn't happened. It is about a mother cleaning her daughter's teeth.
I am exploring how to embed sign language and therefore accessibility for my many Deaf friends and colleagues who use BSL as their first language. I an attempting to use two languages to uncover what may be unsayable or saybable in spoken and signed language.
The research and development for this work will culminate in an open rehearsal at Battersea Arts Centre as well as a more formal sharing of the work at 7.15pm on Saturday 27th July again at BAC.
The creative team for this work is: Charlotte Vincent of Vincent Dance Theatre as director and dramaturge and performer Nadia Nadarajah and sign language interpreter Jo Ross.
The piece has been developed with financial support from Arts Council England, a bursary and residency time from Wooda Farm Arts Award and development support from BAC.
