Privacy Policy

This policy describes how personal data submitted through suemaclaine.com is handled. Last updated: June 2026.

Who is responsible for your data

This website is run by Sue MacLaine (Brighton, UK), who is the data controller. For any questions about your data, or to exercise the rights below, please get in touch via the contact page.

What is collected, and why

The only personal data this site actively collects is what you choose to send through the contact form: your first name, last name, email address and message.

It is used solely to read and respond to your enquiry. The lawful basis under UK GDPR is legitimate interest — it is necessary to handle the enquiries you send.

This information is not used for marketing, and it is not sold or shared for any unrelated purpose.

How the contact form works

The form is handled by Web3Forms, a form-processing service that receives your submission and forwards it by email. Web3Forms acts as a data processor, and its servers are based outside the UK (in the United States), so submitting the form involves an international transfer of your data. You can read how they handle it in the Web3Forms privacy policy.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like all web hosts, Cloudflare automatically processes basic technical information (such as IP addresses) to deliver the site securely and protect against abuse. See the Cloudflare privacy policy.

Cookies and tracking

This site does not use cookies or any analytics/tracking. The documentary video on the Resources section is embedded from Vimeo in privacy ("Do Not Track") mode, so it does not set tracking cookies. Because there are no non-essential cookies, no cookie banner is required.

How long your enquiry is kept

Enquiry emails are kept only as long as needed to deal with your message and any follow-up, then deleted — typically within 12 months.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to request: a copy of your data; its correction; its deletion; restriction of, or objection to, its use; or its provision in a portable form. To exercise any of these, get in touch using the contact details above, and a response will be provided within one month.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) — see ico.org.uk/concerns — though you are welcome to raise it here first.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will appear on this page with a revised "last updated" date.
